Art Teacher, Visual Artist, Project Co-ordinator
“Grew up in Sydney and graduated from the National Art School in the late sixties,I trained as a Secondary teacher at Alexander Mackie Teachers College and went on to teach in the Riverina and later in Wollongong. I came to Albury to take up an art teaching position at The Scots School in 1974 and later with Charles Sturt University.
Life took another turn for us, moving to Beechworth, building a house and establishing Settlers Art Store in Camp Street, where we worked for over 20 years providing art materials for schools and professional artists. Recently we returned to Beechworth having been away for 20 years due to work commitments.
I have always continued to paint and have had several exhibitions both here and in Sydney and am hoping to exhibit more recent work this year. I like to use gouache, acrylic and oil, and occasionally watercolour. My subject matter is figurative including landscape, still life, old houses in Beechworth and some reference to our travel.
I have had a long involvement with the Beechworth Arts Council, having been a past President, coordinator of the Bicentennial Tapestry and the first two Family Albums. I have rejoined the Beechworth Arts Council and am looking forward to assisting with new projects and meeting other artists who have moved here.”
