ART in Autumn 2024 Guest Curator
Beechworth Arts Council is thrilled to announce artist, Dore Stockhausen as ART in Autumn guest Presentation Curator. Dore comes to this role as an award winning artist with a creative practice over three decades strong.
Born in Mainz, Germany, Dore graduated from Zeichenakadamie, Hanau in 1989, completed post graduate studies at Monash University, Churchill in 1995, and established the oneofftwo contemporary jewellery workshop/gallery in Nungurner, Victoria in 2006.
Dore was a part-time lecturer at the Australian National University, Canberra and is a prolific contributor to the Victorian visual arts scene. oneofftwo STUDIOS is now located in Beechworth and is a welcome addition to the burgeoning local art scene.

Opening night guest speaker
Beechworth Arts Council is honoured to welcome the CEO of Regional Arts Victoria, Jo Porter as the official ART in Autumn 2024 guest speaker. Jo is widely respected for her advocacy and contribution to the arts in Australia, the UK and the USA. Beechworth Arts Council has an enduring relationship with Regional Arts Victoria with a membership spanning decades.
As the peak body for regional artists and arts organisations, and the leading organisation for regional creative practice in Victoria, Regional Arts Victoria advises on decision-making across multiple portfolios and levels of government.
Jo Porter will speak to the importance of the regional arts scene to the broader creative community. The ART in Autumn opening night is Thursday, May 02, 6pm at Beechworth Town Hall.

ART CHAT
Lovers of all things creative are invited to a lively panel discussion as a selection of exhibiting artists discuss their art and process. The 2024 ART CHAT guests are: Judy Hawking Burnett, Kay Hampton and Cate Ferguson. The discussion will be moderated by Beechworth Arts Council President, Darren John Pope.

Featuring artworks by Beechworth Arts Council members across a range of mediums (print, painting, drawing, textiles, sculpture etc.), ART in Autumn promises a riot of colour and form reflecting Mother Nature’s last fling before her well earned winter slumber. This exciting exhibition will be housed in Beechworth’s historic Town Hall, for four days ONLY from Thursday 04 May through to Sunday 07 May.
Art in Autumn is thrilled to welcome local ceramic artist, Dianne Mangan as exhibition curator. Ms Mangan takes on this important role with a résumé that includes founding and operating Off Centre Gallery in Milawa, and an eighteen and half year tenure as Director of the Wangaratta Art Gallery. Along with a host of Private Collectors, Dianne Mangan’s art can be found in collections of The New Parliament House (ACT), Powerhouse Museum (Sydney, NSW) and Queen Victoria Museum (Launceston, Tasmania).

Art patrons who visit ART in Autumn will be encouraged to cast their vote in the inaugural People’s Choice Award. The lucky winner of this accolade will see their artwork and biography featured as pride of place among the Pantheon of regional artists currently showcased on the Beechworth Arts Council website. The winner of the People’s Choice Award will be announced at the exhibition’s close, Sunday 07 May, 3.30pm

Attendees are invited to satisfy their curiosity of the art on show and ask questions of the artists present – no reasonable question is off limits. Free tea and cake round-off this essential Autumn art event. All welcome (bring a gold coin for entry).
